Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine, was funded by the renowned Hong Kong industrialist Sir Run Run Shaw and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. It is a large public tertiary Class A comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research. It is the first hospital in China to pass the international JCI accreditation and Magnet hospital recognition, and the first to join the MAYO CLINIC Care Network in China. Founded in 1994, the Department of General Surgery at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital exemplifies the successful integration of the American medical model in China. Recognized as a Clinical Key Specialty in China and affiliated with the Minimally Invasive Surgery Institute of Zhejiang University, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment. As a pioneer in the systematic implementation of minimally invasive procedures in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, our center routinely performs robotic and laparoscopic surgeries, as well as liver transplants. With nearly 10,000 surgeries conducted annually, over 90% of which are minimally invasive, our team is committed to innovation and precision, striving to establish a world-class clinical team in hepatobiliary and pancreatic minimally invasive surgery.
